"Day Dreaming"
Using the image of figures inside the shape of a body to show the aspirations of the self is Zinno’s trademark.
The predominantly red colour in “Day Dreaming” symbolises the troubled and very difficult times of the youths. It talks of their dreams for finding better opportunities, in far away lands, across the seas and the oceans, where the deep red “troubles” will become “beautiful brown and golden sunsets”.
The absence of a boat, moored to the two cleats, to take the youths to these far away lands, is used to demonstrate the absence of resources to actualise their dreams.
Zinno uses his unique skill of “moulding”the canvas and painting over it, to achieve the image of oceans and seas. The shapes and shadows to illustrate the vision of dreaming..
