Hamid Ibrahim was born in Kogi State, Nigeria in 1963. He studied Fine and Applied Arts at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos between 1984 and 1990. He worked for brief periods as a cartoonist and illustrator after leaving art school before eventually deciding to become a full-time artist in Lagos. He is also a certified art teacher.

Ibrahim is a founding member of (G.F.A) Guild of Professional Fine Artists of Nigeria. He was also recently the Vice president of (S.N.A) Society of Nigeria Artists.

He is an accomplished Artist and has had solo exhibitions and several group exhibitions at home and abroad.
