"Mai Nono (Milk Maidens)"
Mai nono (milk maidens) is a familiar view in the social-economic scenery in the Northern part of Nigeria.
The picture depicts three Beautiful elegantly dressed Hausa girls hawking Fura de Nono; a nutritious ground millet mixed with rich fresh cow milk, usually sold in beautifully ornamented calabashes. Beyond commerce, this also features prominently in many cultural festivals in the country like the National festival of arts and culture.
At the base of the picture, is a bovine statue on which a traditional herdsman is comfortably seated, as he watches over his herds, which are either grazing or reclining and gleefully ruminating in a lush and serene atmosphere
