Mamuyovwi is an Urhobo word, which means fortunate head, ie a head bestowed with fortune.
In the African tradition and perhaps many others, the head is of great spiritual significance in the blessedness or otherwise of a Man. It’s a common fact that elders, parents, pastors and indeed other spiritual heads usually lay hands on the head to pronounce a blessing. In the same vein, an imprecation (curse) could also be pronounced upon the head over malfeasances or some other untoward behaviours and actions.
