This work is a tribute to motherhood. The focal point of this piece is a mother carrying her baby & wrapped together in one cloth (the traditional (adire cloth). This is to signify the intimacy and bond that exists between them right from the womb, where there was a life within a life for 9 months.
The predominantly blue colour symbolises the deep love between mother and child.
The upper part of the picture comprises mainly of traditional paraphernalia of motherhood; like beads, cowries, leather bag etc. while the lower portion comprises mainly of objects connected with children or childhood; like different play toys, educational toys like the abacus at the right, football etc.
The subject of mother & child cannot be over-flogged as artists, poets & writers globally continue to draw inspirations from it throughout the ages.
